ORGANIZED RELIGION LOSES ITS WAY!

While it would be easy to argue that organized religion never found its way, the follow news is interesting:

("Detroit News", March 24, 2009)

"Detroit, USA - Americans are identifying less and less with organized religion, concludes the latest American Religious Identification Survey, which is causing a great deal of concern in the religious world.

Clergy have been quick to blame society for a lack of values. It is more likely that many of us religious leaders have lost our way.

We religious leaders become involved in politics instead of justice, in business instead of charity. We scold instead of comfort. We judge instead of truly love. People are leaving their denominations not because they do not care about God and spirit, but because their denomination has become irrelevant."

Perhaps this guy read WAKING GOD? Kind of remind me of the 'money changers.' The problem with most religious leaders is that they try to control and not facilitate. The attitude has always been one of, "We know the truth, you don't, so do as we say." Around that mindset religious organizations have built multi-billion dollar empires that have manipulated sacred texts for their own self-serving purposes. They have caused wars, genocide, racism, and discord all in the interests of God? Don't think so. You see, Christians have this thing about making everyone like them. They may reluctantly tolerate the beliefs of others on the surface, but always, the underlying agenda is to convert. This is why they are becoming irrelevant. Everyone does not want to be a Christian. Even Muslims do not send missionaries to foreign lands to convert people to their faith. Yes, Muslim extremists see Christians as Satan incarnate, but as long as you leave them alone, they tend to leave you alone. In the good old days Muslims were actually very tolerant of Christians, Jews and others. The problem is that anytime the U.S. has a presence in a foreign country, the first thing that happens is that churches get built and tensions rise since the Christians won't stop spreading 'the good word.'

Both Waking God and the Sacred Rota expose this tendency and leave you wondering how can so many millions be fooled so easily. Jesus said that you will know his true followers because they will do as he did. Hmmmm, makes you wonder! Water anyone?
