If you look for books about the LAW OF ATTRACTION on Amazon.com, JESUS TAUGHT IT, TOO: THE EARLY ROOTS OF THE LAW OF ATTRACTION comes #20. Not a bad rank at all. Perhaps the reason can be found in a recent review that I found via a Google Alert about the book. The review is by Simona Rich in the UK. Her synopsis is great and she has caught the essence of the book. It is clear why it fits in so well with the WAKING GOD TRILOGY.

I was pleasantly surprised by the book “Jesus Taught It, Too! The Early Roots Of The Law of Attraction” by Philip F. Harris.

It's a perfect read for those who want to strengthen their faith in the laws of the universe.

Throughout the book Philip F. Harris quotes the Bible and explains the meanings of some Bible passages which were misinterpreted by religious institutions.

The church tends to interpret the Bible in a way that would give the church more power over the masses.

The church talks about the wrath of God and our sins to instil fear in the masses. (It's much easier to control people who are fearful than those who trust themselves.) The sacred texts therefore appear to be oppressing and cruel.

Philip F. Harris in the “Jesus Taught It, Too!” book offers to view the Bible without any judgements and beliefs imposed by religious institutions. He explains that the Bible was written when the church did not exist, therefore it's not directed at the teachings of the church.

The work of religious institutions

From the very beginning Philip F. Harris in the “Jesus Taught It, Too!” book starts off explaining the widely known but highly misinterpreted Bible quote “The meek shall inherit the earth”. He explains that “the meek” does not mean poor or disadvantaged in some way. “The meek” simply means those people who are quiet in nature and showing mildness. Church came up with the interpretation that “the meek” means poor to exploit people and use them with the sweet promise that when they die they will have all they want.

Philip F. Harris goes as far as to suggest that the Church halts the progress of the humanity and causes wars. He explains that the teaching of Jesus was never actually intended to become a religion that would suppress people rather than let them develop. The words of the great masters are meant to show the way and not be made into institutionalised religions. The great masters are not meant to be worshipped but listened to and understood.

The author of the “Jesus Taught It, Too!” book explains that many societies and individuals throughout ages tried to reveal the meanings of the sacred texts, however mass tortures and other cruel ways were used against them to leave the secret hidden. Religious institutions did not want people to know their real power because they wanted people to believe that religious institutions are more powerful than people. But despite the efforts of such institutions to never let the truth see the light, the secret is becoming more and more available for those who seek.

Philip F. Harris expresses his amazement how long religious institutions were able to convince the masses that it's only the religious institutions that hold the key to the meaning of the sacred texts. However because we entered into the Information Age, it became almost impossible to stop the instant communication between people, therefore the church is losing the power it once had over the masses.

Because of certain movies (like “The Secret”), Youtube videos and TV channels, religious institutions are under daily attack and therefore become gradually weaker. More and more people understand that the teachings of the church are false, fear-based and are meant to make people obey the church instead of achieving enlightenment.

Bible quotes misinterpretations

The “Jesus Taught It, Too!” author explains that in the book he interprets the Bible, but exactly the same truth can be revealed by reading any other religious text, such as the Jewish Kabala or the teachings of Buddha. He says that by studying the sacred texts the author kept noticing not only the descriptions of the law of attraction, but also the law of responsibility.

He also explains that many religious institutions were able to convince the masses of the false meanings of the Bible quotes because they quoted the words of the Bible without the context. This made it easy for them to interpret the quotes in any way they liked. For correct interpretation of sacred texts it's important to follow the stream of thought instead of just picking any quote and interpreting it subjectively.

Interestingly, Philip F. Harris mentions that there are three levels of interpretation of sacred texts. The first level is an objective analysis. These are the literal conclusions that result from reading the text. The second level is subjective. This is a deeper analysis which answers the question “What does this passage mean to me?”.

The third level is the spiritual meaning. Not many get that far in interpreting sacred texts because it is left up to the churches to interpret the texts on this level. To interpret sacred texts on this level requires getting detached from your conditioning and beliefs. It requires you to open your mind to receive a deeper understanding. Such level of interpretation can result in personal revelation.

Wealth

Philip F. Harris mentions throughout the book a couple of quotes concerned with material wealth. The Church likes to interpret such quotes in a way that suggests that wealth is bad. However religious institutions are extremely wealthy which makes their interpretations questionable.

Bible quotes about wealth, as Philip F. Harris interprets, do not indicate that wealth is bad. They simply say that wealth should not be your final destination because if you choose wealth as your final goal you will be unhappy. There is much more to life than wealth. Wealth can be used to achieve something higher, like happiness or freedom, but wealth itself does not make people happy or free.

That's why Jesus said that “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." It's not because being rich is bad, but when you see wealth as the be all and end all, you become selfish and lose your own sense of conscience. So that makes it very hard for you to find the heaven inside, because you got attached to the illusion that all material things are.

Conscious manifestation

The author of “Jesus Taught It, Too!” quotes several passages and concludes that whatever you wish to have is already in your possession in an energy form. Because of that you should thank for it and open your sight to see your desires manifested. If you complain that you don't have something, the universe will provide further lack of the things that you want. If you, however, give thanks for things that you want and see them as already in your possession, you will soon get them.

That's how Jesus was able to heal people. He refused to see their diseases and saw them as already healed. This sight of truth enabled him to heal those who were very ill. So whatever thing you want to manifest, know that it's already there and don't accept the false appearances that are surrounding you.

Philip F. Harris tells that the reason people fail to manifest things is because those things are not what they really want. Most people are so prone to influences that they don't realise that it's not them who make decisions in their lives. Therefore they select goals and wants that do not express their hearts' desires. Because of that they fail to consciously manifest and complain that the law of attraction does not work.

The “Jesus Taught It, Too!” author mentions the importance of sound. When you put your feelings and thoughts into words, they are more likely to manifest. Sound is a very strong vibration that helps materialise your desires and worries. So be careful about what words come from your mouth.

He also explains the Bible quote about the house built on a solid foundation and a house built on a weak foundation. This foundation can be interpreted as our knowledge. If we know the truth, no illusions, no negative words of others can affect us. If, however, our mental house is built on illusion, it's easy for us to get influenced by others.

How to see the truth

The author of “Jesus Taught It, Too!” suggests to wake up every day without any preconceived notions. If you meet each day as it is, without any judgement, you will be “born again”. You will see the world as it is and not through the lens that your ego views the world.

This is, however, not easy to do. We tend to be consistent and behave in the same way every day. We tend to hope for the same things and fear for the same things day in and day out. But if you manage to meet every day and every event without judgement and beliefs, you will see the world as it really is. Your old negative habits will eventually disappear and you will be a changed person. This attitude will bring much more positive events in your life because your mind will not create the unpleasant circumstances.

Philip F. Harris also mentions in a couple of places in the book that Bible often explains that the Kingdom of God is not somewhere in heaven but inside you. It's in every man's heart and it's available now. Don't look for it outside of you because you will be unhappy. The Bible also mentions in parables that you should change the way you look at the world and this will make you a happy person.

The Church, however, doesn't want people to believe that the heaven is in each of us. Religious institutions try to convince people (sometimes successfully) that heaven is somewhere far away in a galaxy and only those who are good and obedient will reach it after death.

The nature of a person

It's very damaging for people to believe what religious institutions talk about our nature. They say that our nature is inherently evil and that we are sinners and undeserving. They say that by being poor you will go to heaven and be rewarded for your lack of money.

In reality every single person is deserving and can have anything he or she wants now. But because most people believe what churches say, they don't think they deserve a better life. And if they don't knock, the doors cannot be opened to them.

The author takes this quote from the Bible to interpret:

“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?”

This quote proves that we are deserving everything this life has to offer. We don't have to work hard to get what we want. We don't even have to worry about our survival (because worry itself creates the things we worry about). Everything is abundantly provided to us but our negative thinking restricts us from becoming aware of the abundance we are entitled to.

However with so many people believing that there is lack in this world, is hard to block out this influence. Even if you think that you understand that there is enough of everything for all, you probably still have some kind of belief in limitation. Your parents passed it on to you and this belief in lack has been instilled in many generations before you. So it's not easy to break out of this mass illusion and experience the abundance that this universe has to offer.

Worry vs. faith

The author of “Jesus Taught It, Too!” emphasises that our worries create all the lack there is in the world. When you worry about something, that thing is likely to happen to you. Also, when you know something will happen, it does.

If you know you won't get a new job, you won't. If you know that you will pass the exam, you will. However it's much harder to believe in something positive to the point of knowing than to worry that something negative will happen to you. This is the case because of the habits that we have.

The author gives another beautiful quote from the Bible:

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”

This quote alone proves that the kingdom of God is here and now and not reached when you die, as churches try to convince the masses. If you want to find happiness, have wealth and health, seek the God inside you and all these things will be added to you. All you need is to really want to know and find that place within you and you will be directed to find it because when you ask the answer is always given.

The kingdom of God is not only inside you, but it's everywhere because God is omnipotent and omnipresent. You can see God in every event and in every thing if you look without limiting beliefs and judgements.

Profound quotes

“Ask, and it shall be given to you” is a well-known Bible quote. It is the heart of the law of attraction. However if you ask but don't believe that you will receive what you desire, you won't. So for the conscious manifestation to work you absolutely must have faith in it.

The “Seek and you shall find” quote implies that there should be some action on our part to realise your goals. If you want to find your soulmate, for example, you can't just sit at home and expect him or her to knock on your door – it doesn't work this way. You have to seek for her/him and believe that you will find your second half.

“Knock and the door shall be opened onto you” has a very deep meaning and actually I experienced personal revelation when I was thinking about this quote. When you knock, the doors are opened to you. But the question you should be asking yourself is if the doors you have been knocking on are the doors that will lead you to a good life. Most people knock on the doors that they expect to be opened and don't even bother knocking on the doors that they know would lead them to a great life.

For example, most people search for average jobs because they believe they can get such employment. But just a few seek the best jobs and don't give up until they get them. So use this knowledge to your advantage. Don't knock on the doors you don't want to enter, raise your standards and only set your sights to the destination you truly want to reach.

Don't get discouraged if others will tell you that you won't achieve what you try to. It's very likely they have no idea what the reality is about, they've never heard about the universal laws and their own lives are full of disappointments and negativity.

The “Jesus Taught It, Too!” author also interprets further quotes that talk about the false words and the words of truth. If you listen to false concepts, they will lead you to misery. If you believe that there is lack, you will suffer because you believe that the illusions are true. Only when your mind awakens and sees the illusion will you be happy and experience real freedom.

Further on, the author quotes many Bible paragraphs in which Jesus mentions the importance of faith. If you have faith everything is possible for you. The only reason people don't get what they want is because they don't believe they will.

Jesus also says in one of the quotes that it's important to find your own way and not to follow others. If you believe in yourself and listen to your own heart, you will happiness and fulfilment.

The “Jesus Taught It, Too!” author, after his quote interpretations, gives some quotes for you to ponder on and interpret what they mean to you. He asks you to interpret them independently, without remembering how religious institutions interpreted them.

He finishes the chapter by summarising what Jesus tried to tell in most of the passages in the Bible:

“What you are within, you express outwardly. What you believe, you attract. What you believe, you create. These words and phrases are being echoed like a spiritual shot heard around the world. The Great Awakening is upon us. Fear not, for there is no judgement, no punishment, and none will be left behind!”

Universal rules, gratitude and visualisation

In the next chapter the author gives 33 rules for the law of attraction to work in your life. The law works all the time, but to use it consciously and create the life you like you need to know certain things that the author covers in the rules.

In the next chapter Philip F. Harris explains the importance of gratitude and how to use it in your everyday life. If you are grateful for what you have, more of the things you are grateful for will be given to you. The same goes with things that you are still manifesting. Be grateful for the things that you want and believe that you already have them. Such attitude attracts to you the things that you desire.

In the following two chapters the “Jesus Taught It, Too!” author explains how to visualise to attract your desires. He talks about the mistake people make when they try to visualise something and how proper visualisation differs from simply seeing images in your mind.

The interview with Dr. Demartini

In the next chapter the author transcribes the interview he had with Dr. John Demartini. You may know Dr. Demartini from the movie “The Secret”. He is an incredible person having overcome many limiting beliefs that others tried to impose on him.

The author and Dr. Demartini discuss some of the topics that concern many people, such as negative manifestations, the importance of taking action in trying to manifest your desires and the seven fears that prevent people from being able to consciously create their lives.

Quotes to remember

The author of the “Jesus Taught It, Too! ” (aff. link) book ends the book by providing many quotes of the great Masters to ponder on. These quotes are very deep and some of them cannot be interpreted literally. They require you to set aside all your judgements and beliefs to see their true spiritual meaning.

I think that this book is great for those who want to understand the law of attraction further or are new to this universal law. This book, however, deals with more than this law alone. It shows how the universe works and how you can become awakened by making some adjustments in your life.

I really recommend this book for those who want to strengthen their faith, who are waking up from the illusion that religious institutions want us to buy into and those who just want to read something very positive and enriching.

THE PARABLE OF OZ

In the Parable of Oz we see the full circle path that humanity has taken to discover the inner meaning of life. A small farm family lives with the most basic of necessities of life. Their life is simple, humble, sometimes tough, but also based upon the basic pleasures of love, loyalty, trust and friendship. Youth often fails to understand these simple pleasures and seeks more that is exciting, glamorous, mysterious and exotic.

It often takes a tragedy or disaster to shake up the peaceful life. This does not always mean a physical disaster. A tornado of ideas and promises can tear away the fabric of society just as easy as a flood or earthquake. This is not necessarily good or bad, it just happens to further the cause of evolution. Stagnation occurs when there is no pressure for change. The dark side has its purpose.

So the desire for change can lead a person to strange lands. In those lands, whether they be imaginary or real, there is always choice. The road taken can be positive or negative. After leaving her old life behind, in the case of Oz, the poor girl is convinced by others that she committed a basic sin and must atone for her actions. To do this, a guide appears and promises that if a certain path is followed, all will be well. There is a promise of salvation but that in order to achieve it, sacrifice and hard work is necessary. A demon is often identified as one who will try to prevent you from reaching your goal and, if you are not faithful to the cause, you are doomed. And yet, without the demon, would the trip be taken?

So after finding some like-minded people, the journey is taken. Of note is that you always take your Self with you. We cannot escape our physical, mental and emotional self and depending on the situation, one these selves dominate our response. Of course, what most often forget is that we also have a higher self that walks in every footstep we take-the red slippers?

So the guide says that in order to be saved we must find the Great Wizard. Once in his care, all will be well. After arriving at what seems to be a perfect little world, our seeker finds that all live in fear of the Wizard-hmm, not the impression given by our fairy friend. The community seems relatively mindless and even the simplest of questions must be answered by his Greatness and his dials, knobs, smoke and gadgets. But, instead of answers, the cult leader demands a payment for dream fulfillment. Hmmm, the fairy didn’t mention that either. And, in keeping with all great religious/cult organizations, the payment must be made in blood-kill the witch. Such enlightenment!

Poor demon/witch-merely seeking her own inner guide-those slippers again-now has a contract out on her. Who is the real demon? So now the quest begins again-the land of promise has a high price to enter and the threat of death is the price of disobedience. So off we go, not sure who or what stands for good. We begin to question the new world and yearn for the simplicity of the old. We are certain the answer is outside of us, that is what we have been told-but, our mind and emotions have failed us and they offer no answer. At last we overcome diversity, our fears, come face-to-face with and slay our demon-so we think. We return to the land of promise in triumph only to be told, “Sorry, can’t really help you. It is all for show-no real power here. And, oh-what you’ve been seeking you have never lost.”

With the mantra of, “there’s no place like home,” we awaken from a dream world, reality, and discover it is indeed always greener…That even the brightest mind, the strongest emotion and all of the things of the physical world hold no real answers. And what of the poor people in Wizard world? With the myth shattered and beliefs torn asunder, they have also found that their life has been a lie and that the only real truth must be birthed from experience, trials and errors, darkness, choice, responsibility and inner truth. They, too, traveled the road of simplicity to dogma and false progress and back. A path we all must follow-for through darkness and experience-wisdom is reborn.

IS MODERN SCIENCE PROVING ANCIENT WISDOM?

Is science beginning to verify ancient mystical truths? Here are two events as reported in Scientific American that, to me, show that continued discoveries in quantum physics leave little doubt as to the answer.
“PORTLAND, Ore. — Researchers have demonstrated a device that can pick up single quanta of mechanical vibration similar to those that shake molecules during chemical reactions, and have shown that the device itself, which is the width of a hair, acts as if it exists in two places at once—a "quantum weirdness" feat that so far had only been observed at the scale of molecules.

"This is a milestone," says Wojciech Zurek, a theorist at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. "It confirms what many of us believe, but some continue to resist—that our universe is 'quantum to the core'."

Physicists have long known that, following the laws of quantum mechanics, objects at the scale of atoms or smaller can exist in multiple simultaneous states. For example, a single electron can move along multiple different paths or an atom can be placed in two different places, simultaneously. This so-called superposition of states should in principle apply to larger objects, as well… As to how the day-to-day reality of objects that we observe, such as furniture and fruit, emerges from such a different and exotic quantum world, that remains a mystery.”

In another story written by Geoff Brumfiel we see that, “A team of scientists has succeeded in putting an object large enough to be visible to the naked eye into a mixed quantum state of moving and not moving.

Andrew Cleland at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and his team cooled a tiny metal paddle until it reached its quantum mechanical "ground state"-- the lowest-energy state permitted by quantum mechanics. They then used the weird rules of quantum mechanics to simultaneously set the paddle moving while leaving it standing still. The experiment shows that the principles of quantum mechanics can apply to everyday objects as well as as atomic-scale particles.
The work is simultaneously being published online today in Nature and presented today at the American Physical Society's meeting in Portland, Oregon.
According to quantum theory, particles act as waves rather than point masses on very small scales. This has dozens of bizarre consequences: it is impossible to know a particle's exact position and velocity through space, yet it is possible for the same particle to be doing two contradictory things simultaneously. Through a phenomenon known as "superposition" a particle can be moving and stationary at the same time--at least until an outside force acts on it. Then it instantly chooses one of the two contradictory positions.

But although the rules of quantum mechanics seem to apply at small scales, nobody has seen evidence of them on a large scale, where outside influences can more easily destroy fragile quantum states. "No one has shown to date that if you take a big object, with trillions of atoms in it, that quantum mechanics applies to its motion," Cleland says.”

There is no obvious reason why the rules of quantum mechanics shouldn't apply to large objects. Erwin Schrödinger, one of the fathers of quantum mechanics, was so disturbed by the possibility of quantum weirdness on the large scale…
"It's wonderful," says Hailin Wang, a physicist at the University of Oregon in Eugene who has been working on a rival technique for putting an oscillator into the ground state. The work shows that the laws of quantum mechanics hold up as expected on a large scale. "It's good for physics for sure," Wang says.
So if trillions of atoms can be put into a quantum state, why don't we see double-decker buses simultaneously stopping and going? Cleland says he believes size does matter: the larger an object, the easier it is for outside forces to disrupt its quantum state.

So what’s the big deal? Mystics have long held to several fundamental maxims. The macrocosm, large, and the microcosm, infinitely small, are one: what applies to one, applies to the other. Mystics have said that we create our own reality; form follows thought; what we seek is what we find; like attracts like; our focus is our reality; reality is merely our thoughts made manifest and we can alter that reality with thought; and we are all one.

Until now, many scientists simply shunned much of what was happening on the quantum scale and felt that it just did not matter with regard to the larger world in which we live. The mentioned experiments would seem to point in the direction that they are wrong. What we hold as laws of the physical world are not immutable and only reflect our current state of awareness. Almost every day, some basic scientific law is found to be false. We have seen that if we seek to measure electrons as particles, we get particles. But, if we seek to measure electrons as waves, we get waves. Science is finding that things can be in different places at the same time and can be opposite and alike at the same time. They are have shown that what is done to one atom can affect an atom at an infinite distance at the same time. Words like quantum entanglement and superposition may not be just unusual phenomena at the sub-atomic level but can be observed at the larger scale. What may be happening is that as human awareness expands, granted at the moment through the use of new equipment, we are beginning to observe a closer version of reality–one that can change with a thought. When we are only aware of things at the gross level, then we only perceive what appears to be true at that level. But when we look closer at the detail, a whole new world and sets of laws emerge. These are the same laws that mystics intuited in ancient days when they were not under the mental restrictions of scientific, religious, political or even social dogma.

This is why I cannot accept some of the basic premises of author Sam Harris. While I applaud his fight against religious dogma, he is actually creating a new dogma based upon science and reason. But as we see, science and reason are also suspect as they are ever changing and never creating a true picture of the inner workings of the universe. They find what they seek. But if your search is based upon preconceived notions and false science, you have merely done what all movements do; collapse under their own biased philosophy. They create laws where there are none.
Many seers and prophets tell of two possible futures for humanity: one in which dogma leads to destruction and one where spiritual enlightenment leads to a world of balance and harmony. Nostradamus, the Mayans, the Hopi, biblical seers, Newton, DaVinci and others tried to tell us that we cannot rely upon our physical senses, science or religion to guide our thoughts and actions. They tell us that there is something deeper, something spiritual, that we must remember if we are to control the future of our evolution. Those working on the quantum physics scale are beginning to ‘get it.’ Given enough time, if there is enough time, they will lead us full circle back to ancient truths that were discovered without the microscope or the Bible. If there is to be a “Great Awakening” by 2012, it will be necessary to shed all of the old ways of thinking and embrace a new reality that we consciously create and founded on the ancient universal principles that include: what we due to the least of our brethren, including all species, we do to us and, what we do to others, we do to ourselves.

Fatwa and Religion

Muhammad Tahir ul-Qadri, head of the Minhaj ul-Quran religious and educational organisation said " Islam was a religion of peace that promotes beauty, “betterment”, goodness and “negates all form of mischief and strife”.

“Terrorism is terrorism, violence is violence and it has no place in Islamic teaching and no justification can be provided for it, or any kind of excuses or ifs or buts.”

Clearly, from "Thou shalt not kill," "Love thy neighbor, and we are all one, spiritual doctrine says NO to violence, hatred, terror, racism, bigotry and intolerance. I use the word spiritual instead of religious because the words of the prophets were never really supposed to be tied to a religious organization-in fact, most opposed such organizations and many prophets were murdered by them.

In WAKING GOD we see the outcome of religion gone insane. We see the dogmatic hold they have over their followers. We see the absurdity of it all. Muhammad Tahir ul-Qadri is a modern day prophet who understands intentions, inner meanings and the obvious-religious institutions have not only failed their flock, they lead them down a path of destruction.

As we approach 2012, new voices are calling for a basic transformation of human thinking. They are calling for all to seek the true meaning of the prophets that have gone before us.

Ian says, "Religion is thus the low road precisely because it claims to be the highest road, a ready-made unachievable standard by which to compare (and conflate) all lesser thoughts and actions."

It has taken me a while to read this book, not because it is too long or poorly written, but because I wanted to think about what he said. Here is a brief description of the book:

I read this with the perspective of our WAKING GOD TRILOGY. In the Waking God Books I and II we say that a 'god seed' has been implanted in humanity that will one day be activated, with the physical birth of Adam, and transform humanity. History is Wrong says that the 'gods' were actually extraterrestrials that may, indeed, altered the human genome-perhaps a genome that was not even really human at the time. Evidence is provided, via many ancient texts that have been found in almost all ancient cultures, that advanced beings in their flying machines may have been the founders of the ancient wonders. It is postulated that these beings, seen as godly by primitive man, brought us an infusion of technology that has yet to be explained-and admitted to-by leading scientists and archeologists. Just read about the recent discoveries of the ancient Greek computer, marvel at the Mayan calendar, and examine ancient engineering feats that, by all accounts, could not have been accomplished by ancient man. Religions always gloss over or ignore the parts of sacred texts where flying machines and people of amazing power are mentioned. They paint these events as struggles between angels and demons rather than exploring other possibilities-which, of course, would be self-defeating. And, of course, the images in the Nazca desert which only come to life from the air, certainly would indicate that something happened there that common wisdom cannot explain.

The only real problem that I have with the book is that too much attention is given toward answering critics and defending his findings. For me, this was a distraction and would have been better left to a blog.

Consider these facts: Repeated sequences that do not code for proteins ("junk DNA") make up at least 50% of the human genome.
Repetitive sequences are thought to have no direct functions, but they shed light on chromosome structure and dynamics. Over time, these repeats reshape the genome by rearranging it, creating entirely new genes, and modifying and reshuffling existing genes.

Also consider that the Mitochondria, the power house of cells, has its own unique DNA and no one really knows how or why it got into our cells. Is it not possible that the unused DNA is waiting-waiting to activate when it gets the right signal? Is it possible that new streams of energy rushing through our galaxy-this is scientific fact-will cause this activation? Is it possible that 2012 is the time that the Mayans saw when humanity as we know it might end and spontaneously evolve into a new being? If von Daniken's assertions are correct, it is conceivable that aliens that founded the modern human race planted a seed into humanity that will soon come to fruition. In WAKING GOD BOOK III, THE SECOND COMING OF HUMANITY, you might find some of the answers to these questions-oh, it is still being written-and perhaps von Daniken's theories might make more sense.

All-in-all, HISTORY IS WRONG is definitely a worthwhile read.

THE STATE OF CONFUSION

Perhaps the best way to defeat an opponent or to throw them off track is to create a state of confusion. It is a tactic that has been used since the beginning of civilization by religious leaders, political tyrants, politicians, corporations, political parties and just about any organized group seeking to further its own ends. In the time of Jesus, religious orthodoxy confused the people and the Romans by claiming that Jesus said that he was God. In World War I the Germans thought to confuse the allies by attacking France via Belgium. In World War II great efforts were made to convince the Nazis that the invasion would not occur at Normandy. Today, it is clear that corporations and special interests seek to confuse the public on a host of issues that they simply do not want to be addresses.

What is the best way to derail health care reform? Easy, claim that the proponents of such reform will take away benefits from the burgeoning ranks of senior citizens. Add to that a pinch of government death committees, claims of higher costs and lack of choice and the average person will shy back from any meaningful reform. Of course, such claims do not have to be true; they just need to make the headlines which are more than ready to accommodate sensationalists’ claims.

How about global warming and climate change? It is clear that special interests, the oil industry in particular, do not want to change their business and profit as usual method of operation. With ever mounting evidence that the planet is facing some kind of major change, the best strategy is to confuse the public, and even politicians, by condemning the data. Find one flaw, like the Himalayan glacial rate of melt, and then argue that all of the climate change data is wrong and suspect. Throw in a southern snow storm and one can easily argue, “See, the planet is getting cooler, not warmer.” It is like poor Johnny who gets one answer wrong on his test so the teacher assumes that all of the answers must be suspect also. Despite clear and irrefutable data and on–the-ground observations, corporations have managed to create an air of skepticism around any climate change or warning trend. They have managed to throw into the background any headline about all of the glaciers that are rapidly melting, loss of major water supplies, severity of storms and droughts, rising sea temperatures (December was the highest sea temperature on record), ocean acidification, crop failures, rising sea levels (even in Rhode Island and Florida), and growing climate chaos. By pointing to a couple of years of cool weather, they have managed to take any attention away from a temperature line that is still going up and up. Oh, did I mention the Northwest Passage and ice free arctic waters?

What about the economy? Moneyed interests have managed to steal billions of dollars from the public, make record high profits, pay ludicrous bonuses, foreclose on millions of homes, increase profits by not re-hiring and then getting away with putting holds on regulatory reform or any legislation that is geared to protecting the consumer. How do they manage this? Simply put, by confusing the issues. They claim that Obama is not creating jobs (How many people can he hire at the White House anyway?), his policies are anti-business and job growth (Of course they have no problem taking the billions for their own purposes), regulation would destroy the free market (What free market?), and that if you want the best, you’ve got to pay. Of course, it is the “best and the brightest” that created the economic mess in the first place.

The best part of “confusion” as a strategy is that what you say does not have to be true. You do not need supporting facts and figures. You do not have to justify your claims to the public or the politicians. You do not even really have to lie. All that is required is that you create skepticism and uncertainty. These conditions grind the decision making process to a halt. Few politicians will support a worthy and valid cause if, by some chance, they may be blamed if the cause becomes faulty. If you can create the question, “What if you are wrong,” then you have succeeded in toppling or paralyzing your opponent. It is easy to convince others to “take it slow,” and to be cautious, particularly if votes are involved.

The “State of Confusion” is a wonderful place for special interests. By raising the specter of possible error, such interests can achieve their goals and spend very little doing so. They can fund a study, put a scientist on the payroll, give a grant to a medical institution, or bankroll an economist to create doubt and inaction. One would think that with all of the information that is available, people could see through the smokescreen. Although, special interests can even flood the internet with confusing information. Perhaps if time was of no concern, this would not be as big an issue. But time lost means jobs lost, lives lost and a climate that might have a hard time supporting human habitation. Tick, tock.
